Disney’s ‘Sword in the Stone’ Live-Action Remake Has A Director Now!

Disney’s quest to find a director who could pull Excalibur from the stone is over!

It was reported by Deadline on Friday that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has been chosen by the Mouse House to direct the live-action remake of Sword in the Stone. The movie is going to be a live-action adaptation of Walt Disney’s 1963 animation.

Bryan Cogman, who is renowned among TV audiences as the writer/producer of the HBO mega series Game of Thrones has written the script for this movie, which is going to be produced by Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book).

The 1963 Sword in the Stone was the last film released by the studio before the death of Walt Disney. It was inspired by the novel from T.H. White bearing the same title. Sword in the Stone is the story of the younger days of Arthur before he became a king and while he was mentored by Merlin The Magician.

Besides, Sword in the Stone, Disney is also aiming to create the live-action version of the Merlin Saga, and as per reports director, Ridley Scott has been approached for the project.

It is clear that Disney is going wholeheartedly to create live-action remakes of their earlier animated movies. The studio is presently working on the live-action Mulan, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Dumbo and many more.

At present, there is no official release date mentioned by Disney for the upcoming The Sword in the Stone remake.
