Of all the comic book characters which are featured in the MCU, it is the treatment of The Hulk which makes the least sense.
The iconic character was the focus of the second installment in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and but has been brought down to the status of a supporting role since then. With Thor, this hero was absent from Captain America: Civil War. And he then flew off into the sunset in Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
His absence was explained in Thor: Ragnarok and the frustration of the Hulk fans still grows and as Mark Ruffalo had told us that there is not going to be another solo movie which would feature this character.
While this is disappointing, it looks like Marvel is really trying to make up for this by giving Hulk more presence in the MCU and this was seen in Thor: Ragnarok.
While speaking to Cinema Blend, Mark Ruffalo had this to say:
“So basically, Kevin [Feige] pulled me aside before this, and said, ‘If you were gonna do a… if we were going to do a standalone Hulk movie, what would it be?’ And I said, ‘I think it should be this, this, this, and this and this, and ends up like this.’ And he’s like, ‘I love that. Why don’t we do that in the next three movies, starting with Thor 3 and then we go into Avengers 3 and 4.’ And I was like, ‘That sounds great!’ And so we are at the beginning of this arc.”
More focus on the Hulk turned out to be a good thing and who knows what will happen down the road?
Maybe we will see a solo MCU movie for this character.
