After 9 movies over 17 years, Hugh Jackman is now ready the adamantium claws down.
After Logan‘s theatrical release, which was Jackman’s last appearance as the X-Men, the actor had acknowledged that it is just a matter of time before 20th Century Fox starts a Wolverine reboot. This was much before they had bought Disney and since then, fans have been asking for Jackman to return.
But the actor had said, “I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else, I would like to see Wolverine in there.”
When he was asked if he has someone in mind to take over the role, Jackman had said,
“I haven’t really given it a lot of thought. I’ve been asked that question a lot, and I’m always like, ‘I don’t want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me.’ I’ve still got one more to do, though I’m sure they’re already talking about it and there’s some actor out there who they’ve said, ‘Shh, keep it quiet, we want you next!’ He’s younger than me for sure, so I think Tom Hardy could be great.”
The Mad Max: Fury Road star is a great suggestion, but if he wants to take over this role is another question. If he is interested, it may actually work out. He had been considered to play a young Wolverine in a Matthew Vaughn movie. But back then, Hardy had not signed on to play Venom.
Portraying two characters is becoming common, but his commitment to the Spider-verse is a big one. The plans for putting the X-Men leader into MCU will not really kick in until 2020.
No one can deny that Hardy will make a killer Wolverine. When it comes to this character, there are not a lot of actors who we can cast and make the fans happy.
