The Avengers: Infinity War trailer has also revealed a small Black Panther spoiler.

Winston Duke is playing M’Baku who is called ‘Man-Ape’ in the Marvel comic books, is seen alongside Wakanda’s ruler T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), who is determined to defend his country with the aid of Avengers such as Captain America (Chris Evans) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).

It’s a very brief shot, and yet it clarifies a plot point of Black Panther which will be M’Baku’s MCU introduction as one of the rivals for the throne of Wakanda.

“Armed with hardened Jabari wood armor and a battle staff, M’Baku is the formidable leader of the Jabari tribe, a group of Wakandans who have shunned the use of vibranium and removed themselves from mainstream Wakandan life,” M’Baku’s official synopsis states.

“In the wake of T’Chaka’s death, M’Baku is faced with the choice of challenging T’Challa for the throne, or joining forces with his would-be adversary to defend Wakanda from malevolent outside forces.”

In the comic books, M’Baku has openly challenged T’Challa’s right as a ruler of Wakanda and has tried taking over the throne from him.

He is an enemy of Black Panther and was subsequently removed from Wakanda where he joined with supervillain teams such as Villains for Hire and the Masters of Evil where he took on the Avengers.

Apparently, T’Challa hires M’Baku to support his cause in Avengers: Infinity War, which features the Wakanda army and Avengers standing in the way of the invading alien army of Thanos (Josh Brolin), culminating in the epic battle glimpsed in the trailer.

Wakanda will have a key role in Avengers: Infinity War because it is the place where the battle will take place and probably also where the Soul Stone is located. The Soul Stone is an important Infinity Stone sought by Thanos to succeed in his mission of ruling the universe.

Marvel Studios might reveal further visuals of the superhero team during the coming days!

Black Panther releases on February 16, and it will be followed by Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th.
