According to SlashFilm, fans can expect a third movie in the Cloverfield franchise and also a 4th movie which will release on October 26.
In this movie, “On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.”
The movie was directed by Julius Avery and had starred Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Jacob Anderson, Dominic Applewhite, Pilou Asbaek, Iain de Caestecker, John Magaro, Mathilde Ollivier and Bokeem Woodbine.
Overlord’s release date had been announced last year, and the connection to Cloverfield was tenuous. Given this movie comes from Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures the confirmation that this is an entry into this franchise is not a surprise.
The third movie which had been titled “God Particle,” was rumored to release last year and was then pushed to this February and now has been pushed to April.
The movie had debuted in 2008, and it was not until 2016 that the audiences had gotten a follow-up with 10 Cloverfield Lane. 10 Cloverfield Lane had offered audiences a thriller set in a sci-fi world.
God Particle writer, Oren Uziel has claimed that the Cloverfield series shows a brand which is similar to The Twilight Zone.
“Other than knowing what kind of quality and feel you’re gonna get from something that’s coming out of Bad Robot and J.J.,” Uziel said.
“It just sort of helps to give an understanding of like, ‘Okay I understand what type of movie this is gonna be.’ As far as specifics, I don’t think there is one specific thread that makes it a Cloverfield movie, I guess.”
A few reports have surfaced that a trailer for its third movie may premiere during the Super Bowl.
Overlord will release on October 26.
