During Ant-Man’s last appearance in Captain America: Civil War, he seemed to be putting his freedom at stake by joining Team Captain in the battle against Iron-Man and his team of Sokovia Accords supporting heroes. The movie’s end showed Scott Lang being on the run with the other fellows, but, one of the heroes was missing from the action. After having acquired the Wasp suit towards the end of Ant-Man, why was Hope Van Dyne not in action?
That’s the first thing that the newly revealed Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer did by featuring an interesting conversation between Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s characters of tiny Avengers. The dialogue clarified that Scott didn’t seek Hope’s help, but, he still wanted to know what her response would have been if he had.
I just have one question,” Lang says, looking at some Civil War visuals. “When Cap needed help if I’d asked you, would you have come?” Hope gave a valid reply. If he had asked for her help, Captain’s team might not have been held captive in the Raft by Tony’s group. “I guess we’ll never know,” she says, “but if you had you’d have never been caught.”
The Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer focuses primarily on the events following the Civil War. Since Scott Lang went public as Ant-Man and became an outlaw, his friends are compelled to be on the run with him. While that’s not a big deal for Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) because he simply shrank his towering building down to the size of a suitcase and carried it along.
Similarly, Ant-Man had revealed his Giant-Man power for the first time in Captain America: Civil War, however, the sequel from Peyton Reed will deal in detail about Scott’s ability to shrink or expand to his gigantic size while facing off his enemies. Also, do watch out for that outsized Hello Kitty Pez dispenser!
Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the last Marvel Cinematic Universe release this year, after this month’s Black Panther and Infinity War releasing in May.
The size altering Ant-Man and the Wasp will buzz into cinemas on July 6.
