The CW Orders A Roswell Reboot Pilot!

The 90s dream is still flourishing at The CW, and now the network has ordered a Roswell pilot which would resurrect the series which initially aired in 1999. Just like the original series, the new show will also be an adaptation of the series of Roswell High books.

Carina Adly MacKenzie is going to write as well as executive produce the pilot with Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Lawrence Bender, and Kevin Kelly Brown joining her as executive producers. Brown also happened to be an executive producer of the original Roswell series.

The upcoming remake has no title as of now, and its premise will be a little different from the earlier series, which had a three-season run. The reboot’s synopsis is as given below:

“After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.”

Even though the original series didn’t last long, it had a loyal fan-following, courtesy its mix of melodrama and sci-fi.

In the week gone by, The CW also confirmed about going ahead with another reboot of a series from the 90s with a Charmed revival entering the pilot stage.

The reboot was first mooted last year, and the network chose to pass it on. The new concept is being called as “fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series” and identical to the original series, depicts three college-going sisters who find out that they were witches. That series had gone on for eight seasons.

There is a great deal more of sci-fi and supernatural material progressing to the pilot stage at The CW because the network is also going ahead with the pilot Dead Inside. The series “follows an underachieving beat cop who survived the explosion that killed her hotshot detective brother. When she starts seeing his ghost, their sibling dynamic is flipped on its head as they work together to help crime victims both living and dead, and figure out the unfinished business keeping his spirit on Earth.”

Keep following for further updates about the Roswell reboot, Charmed and Dead Inside.
