In spite of retiring 2 years ago from superhero movies, Hans Zimmer will return to this genre with X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
This news had been revealed by Evan Peters who will reprise his role as Quicksilver. It seems like this news was supposed to be a secret with Peters. He recently spoke on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast and said, “I don’t know if I was supposed to say that or not.”
Zimmer has worked on Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The composer announced in March 2016 that he was ending his career in this genre after Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice for DCCEU.
“I did Batman Begins with Chris [Nolan] 12 years ago, so The Dark Knight Trilogy might be three movies to you, to me it was 11 years of my life,” he had said.
He indicated that BvS “was very hard for me to do, to try to find new language.”
Zimmer was nominated for an Oscar for Dunkirk and will replace John Ottman in building Fox’s mutant universe.
The movie will retell the “The Dark Phoenix Saga” with Sophie Turner reprising the role of Jean Grey. The original story by John Byrne and Chris Claremont had chronicled the fall of X-Man who was driven crazy by the power of the cosmic entity, the Phoenix Force.
This movie will release on Nov. 2, 2018, and will star James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jessica Chastain and Olivia Munn.
