Dylan O’Brien’s ‘Maze Runner’ Co-Star Roots For Him To Play ‘Nightwing’!

Dexter Darden plays the character of apocalypse survivor Frypan for the third time in the upcoming Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and he believes that the leading star of Maze Runner, Dylan O’Brien must portray the role of Dick Grayson aka Nightwing, the famous Batman protégé.

“He would be so good,” Darden told CinemaBlend.

“So what happens is, Batman ages out, unfortunately, in Gotham, and Robin just kind of grows up and just has the same resources, but a little bit more of a badass kind of edge to him,” Darden referred to the apprentice-turned-superhero, who abandoned Gotham and his Robin identity and preferred to become the protector of a city called Bludhaven nearby.

“Nightwing is essentially a 25- to like 30-year-old Robin, and he’s got this sick blue one-piece outfit. Blue, black, and he’s dope,” Darden said.

O’Brien is now 26-year-old, but, earlier he was in contention for the second Spider-Man reboot in 2015, after Sony discarded the Amazing Spider-Man franchise to forge a partnership with Marvel which allowed the teenage superhero to enter MCU. The role ultimately went to Tom Holland.

Nick Jonas, the actor from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, whom fans consider to be a potential Nightwing, told that he is ready to play Nightwing, and stated that it would be “awesome” to take on the character of a key Batman character.

“I’d be super down for this,” Jonas said.

“I didn’t know there was people vying for me to play this role but keep the chatter alive, people! If you vote for me, maybe they’ll cast me in it! And then, I don’t know; I’ll thank you all later.”

Fans on the internet have also rooted for Lion star Dev Patel to take on the role. Another fan supported candidate for the role is Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), whose name was mentioned as having been associated with the role in September 2017.

Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers, Stranger Things 2) had given wind to rumors about his involvement with the upcoming WB movie in November last when he posted a Nightwing image without a caption on his Twitter and Instagram pages. He deleted them soon after that.

Nightwing director Chris McKay thinks that credible information about the movie will come out in February, which might be the much-awaited casting information.

O’Brien is a renowned anime lover and had recently informed about his desire to play Goku in a live-action adaptation of the Dragon Ball movie.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure releases this Friday.
