A great horror crossover may be heading our way soon. Insidious: The Last Key is now performing well at the box office and is becoming the latest hit for Blumhouse Productions. This studio specializes in low-budget horror films, and has ruled this genre for many years. According to head of Blumhouse, Jason Blum, Insidious might have a cross over with Sinister.
Jason Blum did an interview to promote Insidious: The Last Key. During this interview, he had been asked about a crossover between Sinister and Insidious. This is what he had to say about it:
“I hope so. I want to. We almost did Insidious and Sinister and I still feel like we might do that so, I think so. I think we’re going to cross our worlds at some point. I don’t know how yet but we’re gonna try.”
Sinister and Insidious’ story arcs take in a supernatural realm, so there is no reason why these worlds cannot crossover. Sinister 2 is the only sequel that this franchise has and Insidious is pumping movies steadily.
Sinister and Insidious are are financially successful. The Sinister movies have made $130.6 million and Insidious: The Last Key is still earning money at the box office. The 4 movies have earned $423.2 million worldwide. With this taken into account, it makes sense to crossover.
It is difficult to guess when the Sinister and Insidious crossover may happen and it sounds like it is just an idea as of now. It had been revealed that C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson who worked on Sinister and Doctor Strange are now working on a new project together.
