Deathstroke Is Now ‘Off Limits’ For The Arrowverse

There is bad news for the fans of Manu Bennett’s portrayal of Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke. It seems that the famous mercenary is not coming back to the Arrowverse in the near future. Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim stated at ACE Comic-Con about his series no longer being able to feature Deathstroke.

“For a time, [DC] was saying ‘you can’t use Deathstroke,’ and then that changed and we were able to have Slade Wilson back on the show.” Guggenheim clarified during an interview with Discussing Film (the Deathstroke segment is at about 5:15). “Now we’re back to ‘you can’t use him.’”

“These are DC’s characters, we’re just renting them,” Guggenheim said. “We use the characters that they tell us we can use when we can use them.”

What might have suddenly caused the change of policy for DC? The executive producer provided the answer: “They’re working on the feature film version,” he said, indicating towards Deathstroke’s surprising appearance in the post-credits sequence of Justice League.

It is not possible to predict the next appearance of Deathstroke, but, we can certainly say that it won’t be in the Arrowverse.
