All Deadpool fans need not worry about the Disney and Fox deal. CEO, Bob Iger indicates that R-rated movies are still on the cards for Marvel Studios. He had recently broached the topic of Ryan Reynolds’ character and indicated that Disney does not have plans to make Deadpool to a PG-13 character:
“[Deadpool] has been and will be Marvel branded. But we think there might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like Deadpool,” Iger said. “As long as we let the audiences know what’s coming, we think we can manage that fine.”
The success of Logan has proven that the fans want more mature Wolverine story lines. The X-Force is expected to be an ultra-violent movie. While Iger’s statement hints at a possibility that Marvel may follow through on these plans, the question of Disney wishing to establish new R-rated franchises has not been brought into the light.
Deadpool 2 will hit the silver screen on June 1, 2018. The movie will star Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, MorenaBaccarin, Zazie Beets, Brianna Hildebrand, TJ Miller, Stefan Kapicic, Jack Kesy, Leslie Uggams, Eddie Marsan, and Karan Soni.
