A recent report has now revealed that John Wick Chapter 3 has entered its pre-production stage. Following the release of this year’s John Wick: Chapter Two, Lionsgate has announced that the 3rd installment was happening and it will release on May 17th, 2019. It had been believed that the production was to start this fall, but production is set to begin in 2018.
Omega Underground has reported that pre-production has started for John Wick 3. The report suggests that Derak Kolstad has finished writing its script. Not much is known about the project, but Keanu Reeves has hinted that this movie might take place in a few international locations like Jerusalem and Tokyo.
John Wick: Chapter 2 was received very well and made $170 million on a $40 million budget. It is not 100% official if Stahelski is set to direct this third movie, but he has directed the previous two and is acting as a self-proclaimed “prep director.”
The R-rated series stars Keanu Reeves as an ex-hitman who comes out of his retirement to get retribution on gangsters who had taken away everything that he loved. Chapter 2 saw John Wick fighting off bounty hunters and seeking the prize placed on his head. Reeves now hopes that John Wick 3 will see the character trying to escape New York while setting off a war in the city. This is not official plans and only what Reeves has spoken about wanting to see.
It is known that Keanu Reeves had to go through intense firearm training in preparation for the movies, so he will have to go through those trainings once again to get into John Wick shape. There are a lot of questions circling the 3rd movie, but more news will drop in very soon.
