Comics Own Your Fully Functioning Green Goblin Glider Now
Having grown up watching superhero movies, we have dreamt of owning trinkets and weapons used by the heroes and favorite villains. Who did not want Spider-Man’s web slingers, Green Lantern’s ring or anything owned by Batman? Well, if you dreamt of riding Green Goblin’s glider, it seems like your dream has become a reality.
The Goblin glider has been created in real life and is functional, minus the weapons. And how is this miraculous achievement utilized? Well, to hand a football to a referee.
As soccer teams Benfica and Vitória de Guimarães prepared to kick off 2017 Portuguese Cup final, the referee was delivered the match ball by a man who used a Goblin glider.
We are not talking about a guy hovering over the pitch by one or two feet. This soul flew a good 50 feet in the air before he descended to deliver the ball to the ref. The man proceeded to fly out from the stadium. It is unconfirmed if he was yammering about a certain red wall-crawler.
This is not the first time a popular item from comic book lore has been created. Last year, researchers designed a functioning Batsuit, which they named the Superflex, a silly name for a Bat suit. The Superflex had been designed to replace walkers for the elderly and assist soldiers in combat, as it granted wearer superhuman strength.
So we live in a world with functioning Batsuits and Green Goblin gliders.
